Skin boosters give the skin a more refreshed and radiant appearance by improving the skin's condition, increasing it's elasticity and helping to smooth out fine lines or imperfections. When we want to improve the overall health and condition of the skin, we use skin boosters. They work by hydrating the skin from 'within'; hydrating the skin at a much deeper level than daily moisturisers or creams.
What are skin boosters
Our skin produces hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar, that has high moisturising properties and adds volume to the overall structure of the skin. As far as ageing is concerned, it is one of the most precious molecules in our body: no other organic substance is known to retain as much water as hyaluronic acid, making it the best of moisturisers, ideal for softening and smoothing our skin - reducing wrinkles, lines and imperfections.
However, as we age, our skin produces less hyaluronic acid, causing a dehydrating effect on the skin, leaving it lacking elasticity and giving way to the appearance of fine lines.
Further information on hyaluronic acid, it's properties, and benefits, can be found on our lip fillers page.
Skin boosters are designed to restore hydration in the skin by depositing micro-droplets of hyaluronic acid to help maintain and restore your skin's natural moisture content, resulting in long lasting improvements in skin quality and condition.
Which skin booster product?
The Restylane® Skinboosters product range comes in the form of Restylane Vital® & Restylane Vital Light®.
These are Karen's preferred skin boosters for the majority of treatment areas.
For the more delicate eye area, Karen recommends Juvéderm Hydrate®.
Profhilo® is a relatively new and different skin booster product which is producing very impressive results. It is one of the treatments we are most excited about at the moment in clinic. As such, it gets it's own dedicated page which we recommend you visit:- Profhilo®
