TREATMENT AREAS

Radiofrequency (RF) Treatment

Radiofrequency treatment is a non-invasive treatment that lifts, tightens and firms the skin by triggering the skin’s own natural collagen and elastin production.

Skin concerns including fine lines, wrinkles, skin laxity (saggy skin) and acne scarring can be treated effectively.

There is an immediate tightening of the collagen fibres with Radiofrequency treatment. This results in the skin looking and feeling tighter, with an increased contour definition to the area treated.

Thanks to the Radiofrequency treatment stimulation, the skin will continue to improve post treatment due to on-going collagen and elastin production; this improvement can continue for up to 3 months post treatment.

What is Radiofrequency treatment and how does Radiofrequency treatment work?

Radiofrequency is a treatment that involves the application of a cosmetic gel and a warm wand passing over the skin in sweeping circular motions. The wand gently heats the lower levels of the skin to approximately 40°c  -  the sensation experienced is compared to a hot stone massage.
This tricks the brain into thinking there has been a potential injury and stimulates a healing response, triggering an increase in collagen production and tightening of elastin fibres.

The tightening of elastin fibres is instant, meaning the skin appears firmer and more lifted from the first treatment.

The gentle heat also promotes fat cell reduction.

Radiofrequency treatment areas  -  what and where can Radiofrequency treat?

Most people believe that Radiofrequency is just a facial treatment, but that’s not the case. Radiofrequency can be used to treat a great number of areas and conditions over the body.

Common Treatment Areas Include:

  • Around the eyes

  • Face

  • Jowls

  • Neck

  • Décolleté

  • Tummy

  • Hips

  • Arms

  • Knees

  • Bottom

  • Thighs

Radiofrequency for Skin Laxity

Skin laxity is unfortunately something that happens to a great number of people, whether it is a result of ageing, weight loss or genetics.

Pure Radiofrequency energy alone can be used to treat skin laxity by tightening the skin. It is best suited to patients of any skin colour, with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid thirties to fifties.

RF tightens the elastin fibres leaving skin looking tighter and lifted with results expected to last up to two years.

A single initial treatment can be enough to produce results in some people, depending on skin thickness; however, a course of treatments is usually recommended.

Radiofrequency for Cellulite

Radiofrequency effectively works to break down cellulite causing fat cells, meaning it is effective at treating the dreaded ‘orange peel’ so many of us battle with.

When Radiofrequency is combined with HIFU (High intensity Focussed ultrasound), this dual modality treatment regime brings about even better results: not only is fat dissolved, but there is a reduction in the number of actual fat cells themselves.

Radiofrequency for Stretch Marks

Stretch marks affect thousands of people, regardless of age or situation. Radiofrequency treatments target the problem area, stimulating elastin and collagen to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

RF treatments can also be used in a dual modality treatment regime, with Micro-needling, to obtain maximum results in the treatment of stretch marks.

What should you do after a Radiofrequency treatment?

Dependent on the area treated and how you feel, no special care is needed after treatment and you can return to normal daily activities.

Following the RF treatment, the skin may feel tight with mild redness; these effects, if felt, normally subside within 36 hours of treatment. If these symptoms are experienced, you can carry out one or more of the following:-

  • a light application of soothing/moisturising lotions, creams or gels to the treatment area
  • applying cool, moisturising mists as you feel necessary;
  • cool water rinses or ice packs applied to the treatment area
